Background Information
The total population of the province of Córdoba is 804.000 people. 475.000 people live in the metropolitan area, and 328.000 live in the capital. The province has other towns with relatively high population, as Lucena, with approximately 50,000 habitants, in opposite there are otherwise remote villages of the province with less than 1,000 people.

The city centre is located in the geographic coordinates 37º 53' N, 4º 47' W. It has an extension of 1251 km2 and an average height of 120 meters over the sea.

Cordoba has a Mediterranean climate of continental influence. The average annual temperature is 18ºC, while average summer temperature is around 27,2ºC. It is possible to get maximum temperatures of 40ºC under the sun in July and August. Cordoba is one of the warmest cities in Spain.

The average temperature in winter is 9.2ºC.The rains are moderated, with an annual average of 700 l/sqm. In average, the city presents approximately 2900 annual hours of sunlight. It exist few differences between the winter months and the summer ones. Córdoba has an airport placed to approximately 10 km to the SW of the city centre. It not exist big industries in the surroundings. The major environmental problems come derived from the road traffic.
